Adoring fans of 'jumbo-sized' cat weighing 26 pounds crash shelter's website

A big, precious cat named Mr. B has become the Internet’s latest darling.

Weighing in at 26 pounds, Mr. B — short for Beejay — was waiting to be adopted at the Morris Animal Refuge in Philadelphia when the shelter posted his photo on social media Thursday.

The campaign on Facebook and Twitter praised Mr. B as a “jumbo-sized package of fluff and love” and soon gained viral attention.

"He's a chonk of a chonk," the viral tweet said. "He redefines the term. ... Adopt this jumbo-sized package of fluff & love."

"Chonk," according to Dictionary.com, is an "affectionate way of referring to animals that are 'chunky'."

The photo shows Mr. B with a woman wearing a matching, leopard-print headscarf.

Since the post caught traction online, the animal refuge has been “overwhelmed by the number of wonderful people ready to give Mr. B his fur-ever home.”

Morris Animal Refuge did not immediately respond to a request for comment by USA TODAY.

The cat's popularity momentarily broke the shelter’s website, leading interested adopters to the refuge's Facebook page.

“Mr. B. apologizes for crashing our website. We have our team working to get it back up as we speak," they joked on Twitter. "Unfortunately, they're all cats, so it may take a little while."

Mr B's fans showed up online en masse, with people calling him a "big sweetie" and saying they "would die for him."

Mr. B still needs to undergo a check-up by a veterinarian before he’s ready to be scooped up by a loving home.

In the meantime, the shelter advises less-than-patient cat lovers to adopt one of their other cats waiting for a home.
