Philadelphia SUV crash kills 2, injures 8 — including 5 children

Two people were killed and eight others injured in southwest Philadelphia on Monday afternoon when a speeding SUV went out of control and flipped over several times, landing on a nearby car.

Police said a gray Chevy Tahoe flipped over and landed on a black Hyundai, with seven people ejected from the Tahoe, according to NBC10 Philadelphia. Witnesses reported the vehicle was speeding before losing control.

The male driver and female passenger, both in their 30s, were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Five children between the ages of 8 and 14 years old suffered injuries and were taken by fire rescue to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. One of the children may have suffered major injuries, police said.

The driver and two passengers in the Hyundai were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
