Reggie Jackson apologizes to Giancarlo Stanton for comments on injury
Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson apologized to Giancarlo Stanton after making a joke on the radio about the Yankees slugger missing Game 2 of the ALCS due to injury.
Jackson, now a special advisor for the Yankees, says he was joking and didn't realize he was on-air when he made the comment.
”(Expletive), he’s been out all (bleeping) year! How the (expletive) could he be hurt?," Jackson said to Jim Bowden on MLB Network Radio on Sunday, but quickly realized they were live.
“This isn’t on air, is it?" Jackson said. "Honest to God?”
Jackson told NJ.com that he immediately reached out to Stanton to apologize.

"He graciously accept my faux paux," Jackson said.
Stanton missed the Yankees' loss to the Astros on Sunday with a strained quad. He only played 18 regular season games this season due to shoulder and knee injuries.
“That was the an ‘Oh (bleep)’ for me. I thought it was all a joke. I almost choked when he said they were on the air," Jackson told NJ.com.
