Fargo police arrested a man for reportedly leaving a 13-month-old child inside a vehicle at the West Acres Mall parking lot.

Robert Anthony Henson, 22, of West Fargo was charged with child neglect, according to the Fargo Police Department.

Police said officers responded at 1:06 p.m. Thursday to the West Acres Mall for a report of a red and sweaty child left inside a vehicle.

Before officers arrived, a Good Samaritan had removed the toddler from Henson's vehicle, which was unlocked vehicle and had the windows down at the time, according to police.

Fargo police said a child should never be left unattended in a vehicle whether it’s running, locked, windows down, unlocked, or parked in the shade.

In the span of 10 minutes, a car can heat by 20 degrees, which’s enough to kill a child, according to police.
