You can’t go wrong with derby races and good food. On Saturday, Fargo’s VFW Post 762 was the place to be for both.

The 7th annual Derby for the Vets was held at the VFW’s downtown building from noon to 5 p.m.

People were crowded inside to see several of the derby races while eating brats and chili.

Last year, the event raised $7,000 and that was considered an off year, according to organizers.

All the money collected goes towards the VA Clinic in Fargo.

“Without our donations and other donations it would be really hard for them to function and be the number one VA hospital in the whole country,” Dan Jacobson, Director of Derby for the Vets, said. “We're super proud of that and we want to keep that going on."

Jacobson said he hoped to raise more than $10,000 for the VA on Saturday.
