The recent crime statistics released by Fargo Police show the crime rate is up in the city. Police looked at each type of crime over several years and found nearly every type of crime increased including homicide, assault, and burglary.

One woman says she moved to the area about 10 years ago, and she can see a difference.

"When I first moved to the area, it was more about cows getting out,” said Micaiah Lausche. “Now the stories are... break-ins and different things like that."

Despite the change, she says she still feels safe in the city.

"I feel comfortable walking down streets,” Lausche said. “It's one of the things I really like about Fargo."

Regardless of if you feel safe or not, officials want to remind people to remain vigilant by locking the doors on their homes and cars.
