With the onset of fires in our community in regards to dehumidifiers, the West Fargo Fire Department is setting up a program to go to homes to inspect dehumidifiers if the residence is unable to locate their model number.

The dates in which units can be inspected will be June 24, 25, 26. Please call the West Fargo Fire Department at 433-5380 to schedule an appointment.

If you are able to find your model number, you may go to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (www.CPSC.gov) to see if your unit has been recalled.

If your dehumidifier has been recalled, please unplug immediately and contact the manufacturer.

The American Red Cross also recommends that people check their smoke detectors while checking their appliances. If they are not working properly, they can be replaced for free. Just go to https://getasmokealarm.org/
