Sophie Turner Schools Conan O’Brien in the Art of Tequila Slaps

What’s “tequila slaps”? The Queen in the North is glad you asked!

Sophie Turner is quickly becoming everyone’s new aspirational best friend. She loves her Juul, drinks wine everywhere—including hockey games—and makes Game of Thrones jokes that involve the word “pussayyyy.” And now she’s even popularizing a new drinking game: tequila slaps. Her first pupil? Conan O’Brien, who welcomed Turner to his show only to get an audible slap in the face.

For the uninitiated the game is simple: first you take a shot of tequila. And then you get slapped in the face—before you have time to swallow the shot. Easy enough, if unpleasant-sounding!

Turner poured shots for both herself and her host—“because I’m getting on a flight and I like to get drunk.” After O’Brien drank his, Turner slapped him hard enough that his mic picked up the sound—although she immediately hugged him, uttering a frantic “I’m sorry!” His response? “That was a fantastic slap!” Turner poured a shot for Andy Richter as well, but notably, he did not get slapped.

According to Turner, the X-Men cast played this game a lot behind the scenes. “We go really, really hard,” she added, noting that men have slapped her during the game too. Without missing a beat Richter said what many of us are probably thinking: “That’s quite a workplace!” Just one follow-up question: Is there any footage of Jessica Chastain playing this game? Because if so, I believe Turner is now morally obligated to share it.
