The summer months of Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ young marriage took a tragic turn this week in New York City. According to a police report filed Friday, the celebrity couple’s young Alaskan Klee Kai dog was involved in a “freak accident” during a walk on Wednesday, and lost its life in the process.
According to TMZ, Turner and Jonas’ dog-walker had “Waldo Picasso” on a leash during a stroll on New York’s Lower East Side, before a pedestrian apparently spooked the dog, causing him to break free and run into a nearby street. The animal was then struck by an oncoming car and killed, in what Jonas’ rep apparently described as a “freak accident.”
Turner and Jonas adopted Waldo in April 2018, shortly after Jonas surprised his then-girlfriend with a dog from the same litter, Porky Basquiat. The two reportedly decided to take care of a second dog, and adopted Porky’s brother, Waldo. It is unclear if Porky was present during the incident. Turner and Jonas were naturally distraught by Waldo’s accident and are said to have visited a therapist, before finally reporting what happened to the New York City Police Department on Friday.
Both dogs were the stars of their own Instagram accounts, and Jonas even posed with them in People’s 2018 “Sexiest Man Alive” issue. Neither Jonas nor Turner have publicly commented on their loss, as of yet.
