Suggested reading for Woodburn

Ventura

I always look forward to reading Woody Woodburn’s column on Saturday mornings. After a week of news that comes in assorted flavors of awful, Woody’s columns are a welcome relief. They are inspiring and uplifting.

Today, I would like to offer the gentlest of suggestions that he add this book to his summer reading list: “The Maverick War” by Duane Schultz. It is one of several excellent books about Claire Chennault’s Flying Tigers.

And, if he has an especially long weekend for reading, I also recommend “I Could Never Be So Lucky Again” by Gen. James Doolittle. Besides being well-written and interesting, it includes some perspectives on China during World War II. Thank you, and keep up the good work, Woody!
