Summertime is all about insouciance—leveraging simplicity to make a seemingly nonchalant splash. As such, for a Chanel-sanctioned evening out last night at London's Serpentine Gallery, Jourdan Dunn crafted a look that centered on the most unassuming of accessories: the bobby pin. After combing her onyx lengths into a sleek, baby-braided chignon, the model looked to the two-toned colorway of her feathered frock for inspiration, sliding a handful of blue and white bobby pins into her hair. Beginning toward the top of her right ear, the clips cascaded in a wave of cooling color while keeping flyaways at bay.

It was a decidedly playful—and matchy—moment, the synchronized palette extending to the floor with her alabaster pedicure and blue strappy sandals. Diamante statement earrings, preternaturally luminous skin, and a showing of tattoos served as worthy finishers, with sky-reaching lashes and a dusting of metallic eyeshadow marking the look as evening-ready. Bobby pins might be usually utilitarian in nature, but Dunn's detailing makes the case for their aesthetic appeal. After all, there's power in numbers—and color coordination.
