Katie Holmes and Helena Christensen Celebrate Artist Prune Nourry’s Documentary Serendipity
With Angelina Jolie and Darren Aronofsky behind her as executive producers, the star power was in no short supply at last night’s screening of Prune Nourry’s Serendipity. The first-person documentary chronicles the acclaimed 31-year-old sculptor’s battle with breast cancer and the disease’s effect on her work.
“My friend Darren [Aronofsky] advised me to document what I was going through,” Nourry told the crowd during a discussion held at the Quad Cinema theater. “He told me, ‘You’re lucky, as an artist you can turn anything that you live into material,’ and at that same time, I started to realize each and every step of the illness resonates strangely with all my past projects.”
Needless to say, the audience, which included a teary-eyed Katie Holmes, left the screening feeling inspired. Everyone then decamped to the nearby Walker Hotel for a celebration. Poised in a corner banquette, Helena Christensen noshed on chicken and waffle bites while Amy Sacco teased her next top-secret project to pals Annabelle Dexter-Jones and Frederique Van Der Wal.
