BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A new music hall will soon open up in downtown Baton Rouge, encouraging more music lovers to frequent the Capital City.

Located at 336 3rd St., The Basin Music Hall is expected to host its first show Friday, Aug. 30 with a performance by Parish County Line. The announcement was made by the venue’s manager Matt Vonderstein during the Downtown Development District (DDD) meeting on Aug. 13.

Vonderstein says he hopes The Basin will bring bigger-name acts that might not fill up the Raising Cane’s River Center, but still have a large enough following.

Jeremy Senn and Brian Ott are the venue’s co-owners, and Ott owned the Uncle Earl’s bar for ten years before selling the business late in 2018. Ott says he was inspired to open The Basin after his experience with hosting musical acts at Uncle Earl’s every St. Patrick’s Day.

The venue will be in the same building as the former Louisiana Theater, which was constructed in 1913. The space includes a New Orleans-style balcony and room for private events.

Currently, the concert hall is hiring staff.
