EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Baton Rouge police say a man has been arrested in connection to the shooting death of a 60-year-old man.

Andrew Pittman, 68, was arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for negligent homicide.

At around 7:48 p.m. Thursday, Pittman shot and killed Norman Richardson, 60, in Pittman’s home on Balboa Drive after “a brief struggle,” according to a news release from the Baton Rouge Police Department on Friday.

Richardson was transported to Baton Rouge General on Bluebonnet, where he was pronounced dead. According to Pittman’s probable cause report, paramedics noticed Richardson had been shot once in the chest.

Investigators spoke with the person who had made the 911 call reporting the incident. The caller told authorities his neighbor, Pittman, walked over to the caller’s home with a note saying Pittman shot Richarson. The note also said Pittman needed his neighbor to make the 911 call, according to the probable cause report.

Investigators were able to detain Pittman and found a revolver during a search of Pittman’s home.

He was arrested and charged with negligent homicide. His bond was set at $5,000.
