BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Thousands lost power early Saturday in East Baton Rouge and surrounding parishes as strong storms moved through the region.

At around 8:30 a.m., over 4,000 customers were without power in East Baton Rouge Parish, according to the Entergy outage map. The map also reports over 2,000 customers lost service in Ascension Parish.

A line of storms first entered the Baton Rouge area at around 7:30 a.m. Damaging winds were the greatest concern, and a few embedded tornadoes were possible in the squall line.

Northwest Louisiana had experienced the effects of storms late Friday and early Saturday. There are at least three reported storm-related deaths, two in Bossier Parish and one in Caddo Parish.

The outage map states power is anticipated to be restored around 11:59 p.m.
