A man who collapsed and was unconscious next to a pond in Pembrokeshire has died, police have confirmed.

Police were called to the Mill Pond in Pembroke at around 10.30am on Tuesday.

Two vehicles from the Welsh Ambulance service and a Wales Air Ambulance helicopter also attended, after reports than a man was lying unconscious on the path next to the pond, rather than in the water itself.

It has now been confirmed that the man, who has not yet been named, has died.

His family has been made aware.

Mill Pond is located in the centre of Pembroke

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Officers received a report of an unconscious man at roughly 10.30am this morning (June 25) at Mill Pond, Pembroke.

"Sadly, Dyfed-Powys Police can confirm that the man in his forties who collapsed at Mill Pond earlier today has died."

HM Coroner for Pembrokeshire has been informed of the death.

No further details regarding the circumstances surrounding his death have been released.
