Pembrokeshire schooled former US army intelligence analyst Chelsea Manning has been jailed in the US.

Ms Manning was jailed by a US district judge for refusing to testify to a grand jury investigating WikiLeaks.

The former solider - who attended Tasker Milward school in Pembrokeshire for four years - was told by the judge she would remain in jail until she testifies or until the grand jury concludes its work.

US district judge Claude Hilton was told by Manning that she has no intention of testifying and that she “will accept whatever you bring upon me”.

Reportedly, Manning’s lawyers asked for her to be confined at home and not jai for medical complcations but the judge said US marshals can handle her medical care.

She was convicted under her previous name, Bradley Manning

She was previously arrested in Iraq in 2010 for disclosing more than 700,000 confidential documents, videos and diplomatic cables to the anti-secrecy website Wikileaks.

Manning, who was known as Bradley Manning before transitioning in prison, was convicted in 2013 of 20 counts, including six Espionage Act violations, theft and computer fraud.

After serving seven years of her 35-year sentence President Barack Obama granted her clemency in his final days in office in January.
