A four vehicle crash and debris on the road caused two lanes to be blocked on junction 45 of the M4 at Ynysforgan near Swansea.

The incident caused congestion and delays from junction 45 to junction 46 in Llangyfelach.

Lanes one and two (of two) were blocked with traffic using the entry slip road to pass.

Traffic has returned to normal and all lanes have now been re-opened.

Minor injuries reported

A spokesman for South Wales Police has said : “Shortly after 11.00am this morning a report was received of a road traffic collision on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 near junction 45.

Four vehicles are involved with some minor injuries reported. Delays have been reported while the damaged vehicles are being removed.”

Traffic is slow in the surrounding area’s of Clydach, Llangyfelach and Ynysforgan with people using alternative routes.

Slow traffic near junction 45 westbound

There is slow traffic and delays westbound, opposite the incident with people slowing down their vehicles to look at the scene.

Average speed of 10 mph.

There are delays of nine minutes on M4 Eastbound between J46 Clasemont Road (Llangyfelach) and J44 Peniel Green Road (Llansamlet).

The average speed in the area is currently ten mph.

Junction 45 eastbound road has now been closed to allow emergency services to assist.
