Police are continuing to investigate following an incident involving armed officers in the vicinity of Gors Avenue, in the Mayhill area of Swansea.

Armed and divisional officers were called to the scene at approximately 10.45am on Sunday, September 23, following an alleged assault.

A 28-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

South Wales Police said that as part of their investigations a 30-year-old man had been arrested and subsequently charged with criminal damage and sending offensive communications, in breach of a restraining order.

A spokesman for the Welsh Ambulance Service said yesterday a man had been taken to Morriston Hospital.

He said: “We had a 999 call to a property in Gors Avenue at 10.42am and we sent one ambulance to the scene.”

Residents said emergency services arrived in the area at around 10.30am, with "lots of police" in the street.

Armed police were also in attendance.

Police said enquiries into the circumstances of the incident were ongoing, and anyone with information about the incident was asked to contact 101, quoting occurrence 1800362816.

Police have arrested a 30 year-old man following an assault in Gors Avenue, Mayhill.

Officers were called to the address just before 11am today (Sunday, 23 September) after receiving reports that a man had been stabbed.

A 28 year-old man sustained non-life threatening injuries.

A police investigation is ongoing.

Officers are appealing for anybody with information to contact them via 101 quoting reference *362816 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 1111.

Emergency services have now left the scene and the police cordon has been lifted.

'Emergency services arrived in the morning'

Another resident of Gors Avenue, who didn’t wish to be named, said emergency services got here between 10am and 11am, adding there were three police cars, one police van and an ambulance.

'Lots of police'

Samantha, who lives in Gors Avenue, said she first saw an ambulance at around 10.30am, followed by “lots of” police.

She said: “There were eight armed police officers easily and 11 police cars.

“They cordoned the area off and it has not long been reopen - maybe an hour ago.”

Ambulance service update
