A man has died following a crash in Carmarthenshire.

The collision happened at around 11.45am this morning on the A477 near the village of Red Roses, to the west of St Clears.

The man, who has not been named, was driving a Honda Civic when it was in collision with a lorry.

He died at the scene.

The road has been closed in both directions since around 12pm and debris is being cleared from the carriageway.

A Wales Air Ambulance helicopter, police officers, ambulance personnel and fire crews from Whitland, Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock have all been in attendance at the scene.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward, and are asking anyone who was travelling on the road at the time of the crash, particularly those with dash cam footage, to get in touch.

A spokeswoman for Dyfed-Powys Police said: “We are investigating a collision between a lorry and a car, which took place on the A477 at 11.45am today.

“Sadly, the driver of the car – a Honda Civic – died at the scene. Our thoughts are with them at this time.

“Collision investigators are now working to establish the circumstances of the incident, and are appealing for information from drivers in the area at the time.

“The collision took place on the A477 just after the Red Roses turnoff towards St Clears.

“Anyone with dash cam footage from this area between 11am and 11.45am is urged to come forward and contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101.”

The man’s next of kin have been informed, and are being supported by specialist officers.
