A man’s body has been found near a harbour in Carmarthenshire.

The discovery followed a large scale search of the areas between Burry Port and Pembrey on Wednesday evening by police officers, coastguard teams, fire and rescue teams and RNLI crews.

Eyewitnesses said a search was taking place on Pembrey Beach and in the sea, with a coastguard helicopter doing a ‘sweep’ of the area.

Police confirmed on Wednesday night that the body of a man, believed to be in his 50s, was recovered from the scene.

They are working to establish the man’s identity, and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.
