Police were called to a food van at a Swansea retail park this morning after complaints were made about a lack of social distancing among staff members.

Officers attended Thai Chef, located within the car park of Morfa Retail Park at around 11.45am.

It followed reports that four staff members were working within the small working space without wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).

The food van is very popular within the retail park, with queues of people spotted

One person who saw the working conditions said: “We have been in self-isolation now for eight or nine weeks and people have been quite clear on social distancing but people are still flouting the rules.

"There were four or five people in there shoulder to shoulder - none of them wearing face masks.

"My concern is that they are selling food to the public when not taking the proper precautions and when there is already a big strain on the NHS."

A staff member told WalesOnline they informed police that three of them live together, and claimed officers advised them that the fourth staff member, who they do not live with, was to wear a face mask, and that they were following that advice.

A South Wales Police spokeswoman said: "We attended a report of a possible breach of the Covid-19 legislation at Morfa retail park at 11.45am today.

"Officers attended, no breach was recorded and those present were reminded of social distancing obligations.

"If anyone is aware of a business that is in apparent contravention of the lockdown, this should be reported to local Trading Standards."
