Police have informed the family of a missing man that a body has been found near a harbour in Carmarthenshire.

Emergency services, including police, fire and rescue crews and coastguard teams, were called to the Pembrey area late on Wednesday afternoon.

Following a large-scale search of the area a man’s body was discovered.

Dyfed-Powys Police said they did not believe there were any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death but confirmed that it was being treated as “unexplained”.

Now Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that they have informed the family of a missing man in their area following the discovery.

As reported by Cornwall Live, Nicholas Cocks, who is 62, has been missing for almost two weeks, having last been seen on Sunday, November 4.

While formal identification is yet to take place police have spoken with the family of Mr Cocks, who is from the town of Bodmin in Cornwall.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said: “Police were called on Thursday, November 15, following reports of the body of a man having been located on Pembrey Beach in Wales.

“While formal identification has yet to take place, the family of Nicholas Cocks have been informed of this development.

“The death is not being treated as suspicious.”
