Six carers of vulnerable adults have denied alleged ill-treatment and neglect of people in their care.

The carers pleaded not guilty to the charges relating to five individuals at Gower Lodge in Gowerton and Frood House in Clydach.

Four men and two women appeared at Swansea Magistrates' Court charged with 11 offences that span from January, 2015, to September, 2017.

Tony Rowlands, 51, of Jenkins Road, Neath, denies one count of ill-treatment or wilful neglect of a person at Frood House in September, 2017.

Michelle Spiller, 34, of St Paul's Road, Port Talbot, denies a charge of ill-treatment or wilful neglect of a person at Gower Lodge in October, 2016.

She also denies a joint charge with Kellie Walters, 24, of Gwalia Crescent, Gorseinon, of ill-treatment or wilful neglect of a person in her care at Gower Lodge between May 30, 2017, and June 3, 2017.

Ms Walters denies the same charge.

Douglas Stephens, 38, of Rhosyderi, Llanelli, denies four counts of ill-treatment or wilful neglect of three individuals in his care at Gower Lodge between January, 2015, and July, 2017.

Anthony John Thomas, 62, of Briar Dene, Swansea, denies two charges of ill-treatment or wilful neglect of two individuals at Gower Lodge. One charge relates to between June and September, 2016, while the other is between August 1, and August 31, 2017.

David Wedlake, 35, of Cecil Street, Swansea, denies one charge of ill-treatment or wilful neglect of a person at Gower Lodge in December, 2016.

The case has been adjourned to Monday, September 30, at Swansea Crown Court for a review hearing.
