The travellers who parked up in Swansea's stunning Mumbles Hill House say they met a man in a car park who told them to move in there.

There has been a group of caravans parked in the drive of the £1.5m property overlooking Swansea Bay since last Saturday, provoking complaints from people in the area.

We visited on Friday and spoke to a woman who said she was originally from Ireland and had stopped off in Swansea as she is heavily pregnant and is due to give birth in days.

Noreen said they were going to have to move as the owner of the property - who has planning permission to demolish it and replace it with a purpose built six-bedroom home with swimming pool, library, observatory and granny annexe - was taking them to court.

"We were on our way back to Ireland and we had to to stop off in Swansea as I am pregnant and due in five days," she said.

"A man approached us in the car park in Verdi's. He could see that I was pregnant and he said that he had a friend with a property hidden away and he said that we can park there.

"He had a key and he let us in, we were told that we could come here. How would we ever know where to find a place like this?" she said.

The 24 year-old said that there were originally three caravans and four adults and a three-year-old boy on the site but now there is just two caravans.

The property, set in 1.43 acres of land at the top of the headland, was recently on the market for £1.5

"The guy called Luke took money off us, we paid £200 for rent and £60 for electric.

"The owner of the property arrived in the week and said that he hasn’t consented to this. The police have also visited and they checked the area and then left.

"We have been handed a notice from the solicitors and there is a court case today. We will probably have to leave today.

"We are going to drive around now and find a council car park to stay in until I give birth.

"I’ve been to Singleton Hospital and I’m going to give birth there. I am nervous and frightened about giving birth," she added.

Walking up the driveway we found two caravans, a couple of deck chairs, a toothbrush, nappy and a few pieces of tissue paper on the floor but apart from that the area was tidy.

The key which has been left in the gate
The property was on the market for £1.2m

There was also a key in a padlock which was on the gate.

Earlier in the week, residents in the area complained about the noise and said that the arrival of the travellers left people in the area worried and upset.

When asked about the complaints from residents, Noreen said that she was shocked.

"We haven’t made any noise, the only noise that we have made would be from driving in and out of the driveway. We are shocked that people would say that."

Noreen's partner, who didn't want to be named, said he spoke to residents in the area.

He said: "The people who have spoken to us have been lovely, it's a wonderful place and an amazing view."
