Cars at a Swansea garage were set on fire causing thousands of pounds of damage.

Two cars were "burnt to a crisp" at NH Motors on Fabian Way at around 1am on Monday, June 24.

A BMW 1 Series and a Vauxhall Combo van were both set alight during the incident.

Ashley Harris, who owns the business with Damien Alexander, said that he rushed down to the garage after receiving a call from security during the early hours.

"We had a call from our security people saying that 'a car on your lot is on fire'," he said.

"I rushed down here and there were two cars on fire and they were burnt to a crisp.

"We've been here all morning clearing it all up.

"It was a bit of a shock when you hear people are going around damaging your goods. It's cost us a couple of grand.

"We've had the business for a year now and we've had no bother at all. We've just got to try and carry on as normal now."

Emergency services were called to Fabian Way during the early hours of Monday morning

A spokesman for Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "On Monday, June 24 at 12.49am, firefighters from Swansea West attended an incident at a commercial motor garage in Fabian Way , Swansea.

"On arrival, firefighters were presented with two separate vehicles that were on fire.

"Firefighters extinguished the fires using a hose reel jet and a breathing apparatus before leaving the incident at 1.35am.

"Police were also in attendance."

South Wales Police confirmed that investigations into the incident are ongoing.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "We were called at about 12.49am on Monday, June 24 to a car on fire on Fabian Way, Port Tennant Investigations are ongoing."
