Groups of teenagers have been spotted congregating together near Swansea beach during the coronavirus lockdown.

Sarah Roberts, owner of Waterside Laundry in Killay, was delivering washing and shopping to vulnerable people in the area when she spotted the group by the Swansea Marina flats.

Sarah claimed she could see around "50 kids, kissing and cuddling" on Thursday evening (May 28).

Since the lockdown began, as well as volunteering by delivering essential items to those who need them every week, Sarah has been washing NHS staff uniforms for free as they take part in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

"I was out all evening delivering laundry and shopping to vulnerable people who can’t manage and some essentials like milk and bread because they’ve been isolating for 12 weeks and haven’t seen their loved ones," said Sarah.

"I was also on my way to deliver scrubs that I’ve washed to a doctor who is in a hotel and hasn’t seen his children for three months because he’s working on the Covid ward.

"What do I see? Fifty kids playing and hanging out around the tower in the marina and outside the Co-op on their bikes, kissing and cuddling. Where are the parents?," she said.

Sarah said she took the image at 6.30pm and the group were aged between 13 and 16.

She added: "It's infuriating when you see kids out and about not caring about anything, it's really frustrating.

"I had to stop to get milk and bread for a customer who is isolating. I phoned the police in the end, I done a head count and there was about 50 kids.

"They were even riding their bikes back and forth on the road being a nuisance.

"You see these kids and they don't understand the impact it's having on people, I don't think they understand the full implications of their actions.

"Some kids have no idea what is going on on the other side of it and more education would go so much further."

On Friday (May 29), The Welsh Government announced how lockdown regulations are being eased in Wales, with new rules coming into effect from Monday.

Two households in the same local area will now be able to meet outdoors if they follow social distancing and "strict hand hygiene practices".

South Wales Police have been asked to comment.
