Swansea City are set to return to action later this month.

It has been confirmed that the 2019/20 Championship season will resume on June 20, subject to the strict proviso that all safety requirements and Government guidance is met; and that clubs receive clearance from their local authorities in order to stage matches at their home grounds.

The Swans resumed training at their Fairwood complex on May 25 and still have just shy of three weeks to prepare themselves for the resumption of the campaign.

And they have nine games left to secure a play-off place.

Steve Cooper's men are currently three points adrift of the top six and will no doubt feel they remain firmly in contention to finish in one of the play-off berths.

The postponement of the game due to the coronavirus outbreak has given George Byers the chance to fully recover from the ankle injury he suffered against Derby earlier this year, an issue that would previously seen the midfielder miss the rest of the campaign.

Defender Mike van der Hoorn is also edging closer to a return to action having undergone knee surgery in February.

The Dutchman has not resumed full training with his team mates though and is still working his way towards full fitness having not featured for the Swans since January 2.

EFL chiefs will make a full announcement on fixtures in due course, but Middlesbrough were due to be the Swans' next opponents before the campaign was suspended.

Swansea City have not played since the 0-0 draw with West Brom on March 7

Remaining fixtures: Middlesbrough (A), Luton (H), Millwall (A), Sheffield Wednesday (H), Birmingham (A), Leeds (H), Nottingham Forest (A), Bristol City (H) and Reading (A).

So how could Swansea line up when they take to the field on June 20, whether it be against Boro or someone else?

For guidance, here's the starting XI from the last match against West Brom on March 7:

XI: Woodman; Naughton, Rodon, Cabango, Bidwell; Fulton, Grimes (C); Ayew, Gallagher, Kalulu; Brewster.

Subs: Mulder, Dyer, Wilmot, Dhanda, Roberts, Cullen.

Bersant Celina and Wayne Routledge both had minor issues but are now available for selection.

Byers is also in contention to feature, although it remains to be seen if van der Hoorn will be fit for the resumption of the campaign.

So with that in mind, we've gone with the same goalkeeper and back four from the 0-0 draw with the Baggies.

We've opted for Byers in midfield, although Jay Fulton is also an option.

As for the four attackers, Conor Gallagher should sit behind the lone striker Rhian Brewster while leading goal scorer Andre Ayew can expect to get the nod on the right.

It leaves a mouth-watering battle between Routledge, Celina and Aldo Kalulu - who started last time out - for the remaining left-wing slot.

Here's the starting XI and subs we selected:

XI: Woodman; Naughton, Rodon, Cabango, Bidwell; Byers, Grimes (C); Routledge, Gallagher, Ayew; Brewster.

Subs: Mulder, Roberts, Guehi/Wilmot, Fulton, Garrick, Dyer, Celina, Kalulu, Cullen.

The EFL also confirmed it was agreed to consider changing regulations to permit the use of five substitutes in the remaining fixtures and, also increasing the matchday squad from 18 to 20 players, meaning a selection of nine substitutes will be available.

Given that van der Hoorn is currently unavailable, he has not been included in the options for selection.
