Swansea City fans can now buy season tickets for under £400 - with some adult prices £30 less than last season.

The Championship club has increased the initial early bird period for discounted tickets by a month - to January 31.

That means Swansea City fans can now renew their season tickets for around £30 to £40 less than if they do so on February 1.

But some fans have taken to social media to complain the price is still too high.

Prices have dropped since the Liberty Stadium team were relegated from the Premier League last year.

Jonathan Child said on Facebook the tickets should be given for free this year "given our commitment and the poor offerings on display".

And Jodie Robertson said: "Whoopy - a thirty pound discount. To watch us play poor football."

Tickets for the priciest West stand will cost £459, rising to £489 from February.

Prices for the 2019/20 season rise across the board from next February, but are guaranteed to be cheaper than last season’s final renewal price if bought before March 31.

How to renew

The quickest and easiest way for supporters to renew their season ticket is to do so online here (from today until March 31, 2019). Supporters can also visit the Swans' ticket office or phone 01792 616400.

To renew online, you must ensure you have:

1. A Swans Club Account.

2. Are able to log in via login.swanseacity.com

3. Are linked to your own correct season ticket account number under the “Link My Account” page of your profile. This number needs to match the number on the bottom left corner of your card.

All existing season ticket holders who renew will NOT receive new cards in the post, so must make sure they keep their current season card.

But not all were aggrieved at this year's prices.

Fan Ugo Vallario said he thought the reduction was a good idea.

"All I say is it's a good idea to reduce it, and it helps the fans," he said.

"In the present economic climate it's a good gesture. They could have raised the prices."

But the club has introduced two significant age group changes this year: The seniors age now starts at 65, not 60, and people can now pay the child price for under-18s, rather than just under-16s at present.

Jonathan Wilsher, head of communications at Swansea City, said the new season ticket price was good value for money.

He added: "The reduction and the prices have, overall, been well received. We have increased the discount on the early bird price and have not increased the overall season ticket price.

"Our first two days of season ticket renewals have outsold the same period since last year.

"We still feel that a season ticket is excellent value for money and I thank the fans for their continued support."

He also commented on the new seniors and child tickets, saying the extension to the child range had been positively received, and the majority of clubs in the premier league and football league had 65 as their senior age.
