Jefferson Montero made his bow for Birmingham City on Tuesday night - and supporters already like the look of him.

The winger left Swansea City on loan during the summer transfer window, with a move to the Midlands officially ratified a day after deadline.

Swansea head coach Steve Cooper made it clear that Montero would not be part of his plans this term, and chose not to include him in any of his pre-season preparations.

Montero spent time back in Ecuador over the summer, sorting out visa issues, and on his return it was evident that he would be leaving SA1.

The winger is now into the final year of his contract in Landore and is unlikely to play for the club again.

Blues fans saw what he can do when he came off the bench in their 2-0 win over Barnsley at St Andrew's.

The 29-year-old only got 10 minutes, but supporters were quick to praise his contribution.

Out colleagues at Birmingham Live gave the attacker a seven in their match ratings - and deemed it a "sparkling 10-minute cameo".

Cooper had this to say on Montero after he left the club earlier this month. He said: "Jefferson has never really been in the mix.

"I don't know too much about that. He's one that Trevor (Birch) and the board have dealt with."

Montero spent the second half of last season on loan with another Midlands club, West Brom, but only notched up 119 minutes of football for the Baggies.
