Swansea City head to The Hawthorns this evening for what looks like a daunting fixture on paper.

It will be their second tough game in the space of a week, following on from the date at Carrow Road last Friday.

The Swans acquitted themselves well in Norfolk despite losing 1-0, giving the hosts a tough time in the opening 45 minutes.

Daniel Farke's men eventually broke the deadlock, but Graham Potter can be happy with the way his charges fared, especially in the absence of striker Oliver McBurnie.

The Scot will again be missing tonight, with illness still affecting him .

West Brom are currently without a manager after Darren Moore's sacking, leaving Swansea loan man Jefferson Montero a bit in limbo.

The Ecuadorian joined them on the last day in January as Swansea sought to clear some cash from the wage bill.

Can he play this evening?

No, he can't. Under the terms of the loan agreement between the two clubs, the winger cannot face his employers.

How has he got on since his switch to the Midlands?

Jefferson Montero of West Bromwich Albion celebrates with team-mates

Typically for Swansea's luck, he scored just minutes into his full debut for his new side. He's featured three times, starting just the once, though.

Paul Suart of BirminghamLive  trots out some very familiar lines about Montero. He said: "It's been very off and on for him here. He's been mainly used as an impact man from the bench, which is no different to his role at Swansea really.

"His first start, he scored within about four or five minutes and played relatively well. He was brought off after about an hour. He just hasn't had the games, has he?

"He hasn't really been able to kick on since then, which is a shame. West Brom do have a number of options out wide. It will be interesting to see what Darren Moore's departure means for him in the final few matches and see what the new man thinks of him."

Where will he be next term?

Montero's contract expires in the summer of 2020, so he is now in the last 18 months of his current deal.

Potter is a huge fan of the 29-year-old but the fact of the matter is, his injury and fitness record isn't great and he is one of the higher earners at the club. Also, the fact they were willing to loan him out gives a nod to where we stand.

With further financial restructuring likely to take place this summer, Montero is likely to be one of the players in Potter's squad with a question mark over his head. And with Daniel James' future also under speculation, Swansea could be without two destructive widemen next season.

Could the Baggies want him permanently?

"Impossible to say right now," adds Suart.  "It's completely dependent on what the new man thinks of him really. The technical director will still be here in the summer, who obviously had a hand in Montero joining the club, but the final say will be with the new manager. We definitely need to see more of him, for any manager to be convinced or persuaded to sign him permanently."
