It is the biggest women's cycling race in Britain... and the final moments of the OVO Energy Women's Tour will be played out in Wales.

Hot on the heels of the Tour of Britain starting from Pembrey Country Park last year, 2019 is the year of the world's elite women riders.

And stages 5 and 6 will see around 100 of the world's top professional cyclists push themselves through Powys and Carmarthenshire as they head through the finishing legs of the race on Friday, June 14 (Stage 5) and Saturday, June 15 (Stage 6) .

If you want to see the top women cyclists competing in the world today, this is your chance.

Among those taking part will be defending champion Coryn Rivera, alongside four other previous winners of the event, including 2016 champion Lizzie Deignan and Marianne Vos - the most decorated rider in the history of the race, having won five stages and four jerseys since 2014.

Stage 5 - the Powys leg

Starting at Llandrindod Wells and ending in Builth Wells, it will cover a distance of 140km.

Llandrindod Wells is the home of the National Cycle Collection, and the arduous stage takes the riders all the way to the Royal Welsh showground in Builth Wells.

Where will I see the cyclists in Powys?

These are the stop offs and the estimated times of arrival...

Will there be road closures?

Yes. There will be rolling road closures. This means roads on and around the race route mentioned above will be closed for a short period in which it takes the race to pass by – usually about 15 minutes around the estimated time of arrival and indicated by police escort vehicles.

Where can I park?

Parking is available at Builth Wells at the Groe Car Park. For those travelling by public transport the nearest railway station is just two miles out of town at Builth Road, on the Heart of Wales line linking Shrewsbury and Swansea. There are bus services to Cardiff, Llandrindod Wells, Brecon, Newtown, Rhayader and Hereford.

Stage 6 - the Carmarthenshire leg

Carmarthenshire's breath-taking scenery will offer some of the most challenging terrain of the six-day race.

By the time the cyclists cross the finishing line they will have travelled 790km.

It covers 125.9km, from Carmarthen through to Bethlehem, where cyclists will take on a gruelling SKODA Queen of the Mountains uphill sprint, on through the Black Mountains and then south through the Amman and Gwendraeth valleys before ending at Pembrey .

Where will  I see the cyclists in Carmarthenshire?

The day starts at Carmarthen's historic and recently refurbished velodrome, and crosses the finish line at the new National Closed Road Circuit at Pembrey Country Park.

The race will end in Pembrey

Brechfa - The race is estimated to arrive in Brechfa around 10.35am.

Abergorlech Woods - The race is estimated to arrive in Abergorlech around 10.43am.

Talley- The first sprint section of the Women's Tour is in Talley. The race is estimated to arrive here around 10.59am.

Llandeilo- The race is estimated to arrive in Llandeilo around 11.14am.

Ffairfach - The race is estimated to arrive in Ffairfach around 11.17am.

Bethlehem - The first big challenge of the race is the Queen of the Mountain at Bethlehem hill. The race is estimated to arrive at Bethlehem Hill around 11.28am.

Black Mountain - This is one of the highlights of the stage, the final QoM section which takes the riders through the Black Mountain in the Brecon Beacons National Park. The race is estimated to arrive at the QoM in the Black Mountains around 11.52am.

Upper Brynamman - The race is estimated to arrive in Upper Brynamman around 11.58am.

Garnant / Glanamman - The race is estimated to arrive in Garnant / Glanamman around 12.05pm.

Ammanford - The race is estimated to arrive in Ammanford around 12.15pm.

Penygroes - The final sprint of stage six goes through the village of Penygroes. The race is estimated to arrive in Penygroes around 12.24pm.

Gorslas - The race is estimated to arrive in Gorslas around 12.28pm.

Pontyberem - The race is estimated to arrive in Pontyberem around 12,40pm.

Trimsaran - The race is estimated to arrive in Trimsaran around 12.56pm.

Pembrey Country Park - The final phase of stage six will see riders complete a lap of the closed-road cycle circuit on the approach to the finish line. The race is estimated to arrive in Pembrey Country Park around 1.08pm.

Will there be road closures?

As with Powys, a rolling road closure will be enforced so the roads on and around the race route will be closed for a short period in which it takes the race to pass by.

There will be an advance vehicle 15 minutes ahead of the race, keeping you up-to-date with what is happening in The Tour.

Where can I park?

All Carmarthenshire County Council car parks on the day are free of charge.

How many spectators are expected to see the race?

The whole race attracts around 300,000 roadside spectators, as well as a worldwide television and online audience of nearly five million people.

Do we have any local interest?

Definitely! Carmarthen cyclist Manon Lloyd has confirmed her selection to compete in the tour.

The 22-year-old is hoping her home crowd will spur her on as she competes as part of her team Drops.

A veteran of her town's velodrome, she is no stranger to international racing, though. In 2018 she was part of Team GB for the Commonwealth Games in Australia's Gold Coast.

She also took gold and bronze medals and high-ranking placings at the European, National and World Track Championships.

Are there any events tied up with the race?

Yes. Ammanford has organised a family fun day, with entertainment, cycling activities and stalls, with bunting strewn around the streets.

Family entertainment will be provided by Jac y Do, Dawnswyr Penrhyd, singer Kizzy Crawford, and Organised Kaos.

Carmarthenshire County Council's Actif team will be hosting cycling activities.

Stores across Carmarthenshire have also been giving their shop windows a makeover in the theme of the race.

What if I can't get to see the race?

ITV4 will screen highlights from every stage of the OVO Energy Women’s Tour, with programmes broadcasting at 8pm in the UK and available on demand via the ITV Hub catch-up service.
