Giant inflatable daffodils will be popping up across Cardiff over the next week - with some being lifted up to 60 metres in the air.

But the iconic Welsh symbols have nothing to do with Wales' impressive victory over England on the weekend - instead these inflatables are part of a trail celebrating St David's Day.

Each morning the helium-filled daffs will pop up in two surprise locations before heading to their next locations for the afternoon, so you'll need to be quick if you want to spot them.

And the they'll make up #TheDaffTrail.

Shoppers, businesses and workers can follow #TheDaffTrail map on For Cardiff (from Monday, February 25), to find all 15 locations before St David’s Day on Friday, March 1.

The massive flowers, which are six metres in diameter, will appear at iconic locations including The Principality Stadium, Cardiff Arms Park and City Hall, before making a budding finale on St David’s Day at Cardiff Castle.

Adrian Field, FOR Cardiff executive director, said: “FOR Cardiff wanted to ensure this year’s St David’s Day was exceptional after the ‘Beast from the East’ hit Wales last year and called off many St David’s Day celebrations in the city.

“We chose the daffodil because not only is it a culturally significant emblem, but they are colourful and bright - the perfect flower to brighten up the skies.

"We encourage visitors and residents of Cardiff to follow #TheDaffTrail and explore Cardiff whilst visiting the wonderful shops and restaurants that the city has to offer along the route.”

Jamie Muir, stadium manager at Cardiff Blues, said: "FOR Cardiff approached us because they wanted The Daff Trail to showcase some of the most iconic venues in the city. We very much hope the trail helps visitors celebrate St David’s Day in style.”

The trail begins on Tuesday, February 26, and will culminate with a spectacular display on St David’s Day, Friday, March 1.
