More businesses in Jackson are starting to open up, but with the large crowds, concerns grow in stores about social distancing and the possibility of fire code violations.
Burlington Coat Factory has two stores in Jackson, one at the Metro Center Mall, the other on County Line Road.
The discount retailer holding a sale with deep discounts and consumers were ready to take advantage.
Those with a cough or fever were asked not to enter the business. Employees also ask customers to avoid physical contact, wear a face mask, and practice the recommended social distance.
At the Burlington in the Metro Center, however, it did not appear the rules were enforced the same way.
People were waiting in long lines around the perimeter of the of the store, but did not follow the 6-feet guidelines.
At the register, several shoppers were also not wearing a face mask.
Chief Elliott Holmes is the division chief of the city of Jackson's Fire Marshall's Office.
Chief Holmes said his department issues citations and summons for violations of any fire codes.
Chief Holmes said social distancing violations are enforced by the police.
He said there are things people should keep an eye out for when it comes to the fire code.
