Two Mississippi hunters were surprised to lay their eyes upon a black bear while deer hunting in Cleveland.
Jordan Coopwood and Andrew Smith, of Merigold, were sitting in their ladder stand when two deer ran off suddenly.
Shortly after looking ahead to their nearby food plot, the hunters realized the black dots they were seeing in the far distance were actually bears.
"They definitely weren't cubs, but they weren't grown. It was like something on National Geographic. So, after watching them for about 20 minutes, one walked past us. The second one, he was walking the same way toward us. He was probably 30 yards out from us and he beelined it to us," Coopwood told the Clarion Ledger.
One bear did not hesitate to physically climb the hunters' deer stands, smelling their honey bun breakfasts.
Realizing the bear was getting closer and closer, Coopwood finally yelled, and the bear immediately retreated.
Mississippi's bear population has vastly increased in the last few years.
Typically, bears are attracted by their search for food, so hunters must pay close attention, even when up off of the ground.
