‘He’s scared of us’: Rashida Tlaib says Trump feels threatened by ‘the squad’

.

Michigan congresswoman Rashida Tlaib asserted that President Trump is threatened by her and other ultra-liberal congresswomen often referred to as “the squad.”

Tlaib was speaking out after her trip to Israel was abruptly canceled earlier this month.

“It’s been very clear to me, especially this last week, that he’s scared of us,” Tlaib said. “He’s afraid of women of color … because we’re not afraid of him and we’re not afraid to speak up and say that we have a white supremacist in the White House who has a hate agenda. He’s afraid because we have a real agenda for the American people.”

“The squad” also includes freshman lawmakers Reps. Ilhan Omar, Ayanna Pressley, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The four women have been sharply critical of Trump since being sworn into Congress. Trump has criticized them in return for supporting boycott, divestment, and sanctions against Israel and promoting expensive policies in America that the president perceives as being socialist.

Tlaib and Omar had planned to take a trip to Israel to promote BDS through an agenda sponsored by Miftah, an nonprofit organization that does not recognize Israel as a sovereign nation and is often associated with anti-Semitism. Israel, which outlawed support of BDS, canceled the trip and blocked entry for the congresswomen. Tlaib was offered a chance to enter the country to visit her grandmother, but declined when she was told she could not protest Israel while in the country.

Through tears, Tlaib explained why she was jilting her grandmother in favor of political activism in a Monday press conference.

“It is unfortunate that Prime Minister Netanyahu took a page out of Trump’s book,” Tlaib said. “I remember visiting East Jerusalem with my then-husband and him escorted off the bus, although he was a United States citizen, just so security forces could harass him. All I can do as the granddaughter of a woman who lived in Occupied Territory is to elevate her voice by exposing the truth the only way I know how.”

The president, who also said that Jewish Americans who supported Democrats were disloyal to their religion, later responded to Tlaib in a tweet.

“Sorry, I don’t buy Rep. Tlaib’s tears,” he said. “I have watched her violence, craziness and, most importantly, WORDS, for far too long. Now tears? She hates Israel and all Jewish people. She is an anti-Semite. She and her 3 friends are the new face of the Democrat Party. Live with it!”
