Political operatives have uncovered a sixth video showing Democratic Senate Candidate Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz., disparaging the state where she hopes to become a U.S. senator.
That’s six. As in “a half dozen.”
“Think about what your community is doing about immigrants and immigrant populations,” the Democratic candidate can be seen saying in a video from July 2010. “And be careful, because if you’re laying down on the job, your state could turn into Arizona pretty quickly.”
At this point, Sinema has a clearly established history of mocking her state and its residents for the edification of liberal audiences.
One video from 2011 shows Sinema mocking Arizonans as “crazy”; a second video shows her referring to Arizona as the “meth lab of democracy”; a third video shows her telling an audience that Arizona should “serve as a warning symbol for each of you”; a fourth video shows her bemoaning that Arizona is “not famous in a good way … we’re famous in a Lindsay Lohan kind of way. Not good“; a fifth video from 2011 shows her again referring to Arizona as “crazy.”
She has also tweeted critical remarks about the Grand Canyon state.
“Dear Rest Of The World, I just want you to know, Arizona wasn’t always this crazy. It used to be pretty great, actually. Sincerely, Kyrsten,” she tweeted in 2011. She also said earlier in 2010, “Just one day, I’d like Arizona to be in the news for something good. Just one day people.”
Sinema trails her Republican opponent, retired U.S. Air Force pilot Rep. Martha McSally, R-Ariz., by only 0.3 points, according to a RealClearPolitics polling average. If the Democrat in the race fails to pull this off, I suspect these videos will have played a role. It’s not every day that a major political party runs a candidate who is on the record repeatedly and non-jokingly disparaging the state where she’s running.
