Man fatally shot in Northeast Washington, police say

A man was fatally shot Tuesday afternoon in Northeast Washington, police said.

The man, identified as Juwaun Robert Smith, 23, of Northeast, was found in a car in the 4400 block of Ponds Street NE, police said. They said he had been shot “multiple times.”

The victim was found just before 4 p.m., said Officer Hugh Carew, a D.C. police spokesman.

Few details of the shooting were available early Wednesday.

The block in which Smith was found is a residential street in the Kenilworth area near the Kenilworth Park and Aquatic Gardens.
