The Maryland state championships at Loyola University are set.
Whitman will face Perry Hall in the Maryland 4A championship Friday. The Vikings also haven’t lost since their season-opener against Quince Orchard. Whitman defeated Anne Arundel County’s top team, Severna Park, in the state semifinals Saturday. Freshman Delaney DeMartino headlines Whitman’s attack, as Coach Greg Herbert seeks his third state title over the past six years.
Northern pulled off two upsets to reach the Maryland 3A final Saturday night. The Patriots beat Huntingtown on penalty kicks in the third round and took down Towson, 3-1, behind forward Rachel Deresky’s two scores in the state semifinals. Northern, which has never won a state championship, will play Thomas Johnson.
While many teams didn’t play this past week, Sidwell Friends won its first DCSAA championship a week after winning the Independent School League AA title. Forward Kiki Rice scored twice in the Quakers’ 2-1 victory over Georgetown Day, which beat St. John’s en route to the final.
“If someone had an off-day in past years, there was no other option,” Sidwell Friends Coach Ryan Alexander said. “We just had to play through it. The difference is this year’s team is so deep.”

Forward Kiki Rice scored twice in the Quakers’ 2-1 win over Georgetown Day in the DCSAA championship.
6. Northern (15-2-1) LR: 7
Forward Rachel Deresky netted two goals in the Patriots’ 3-1 victory against Towson in the Maryland 3A semifinals.
7. Severna Park (17-2) LR: 4
The Falcons permitted their first goal of the postseason in a 1-0 loss to Whitman in the Maryland 4A semifinals.
8. Quince Orchard (13-2) LR: 8
The Cougars reached the Maryland 4A West final for the second consecutive year but fell to Whitman.
9. Huntingtown (14-2) LR: 9
In the third round of the Maryland 3A playoffs, the Hurricanes fell to Northern, which will play for the state title this weekend.
10. Wilde Lake (13-2-1) LR: not ranked
Both of the Wildcats’ losses came against River Hill, including a defeat in the third round of the Maryland 2A playoffs.
