CORBIN, Ky. (WATE) – Three Corbin, Kentucky, residents have been arrested and charged with trafficking a missing 16-year-old girl to Ohio.

Michael Nason, 34, and Tiffany Cheek, 29, are both charged with unlawful transaction with a minor, felony custodial interference, kidnapping of a minor, human trafficking with a victim under 18, rape, unlawful imprisonment, and trafficking in a controlled substance. Carl Hickman will also face the same charges upon extradition.

The Knox County, Kentucky, Sheriff’s Department says they received a report on April 20 of a missing 16-year-old. After talking with relatives and conducting an investigation, she was entered into the National Crime Information Center Database for missing persons.

The next day, deputies were notified by police in Cincinnati, Ohio, that the girl was in their custody after they received a tip that a girl was being held in the back of  U-Haul van in a parking lot. Her information matched the entry in the NCIC.

A Knox County deputy went to Ohio to pick up the girl and learned she had been taken by Nason, Cheek and Hickman. Cheek, an acquaintance of the girl, allegedly lured the girl away from her home under false pretenses of being her guardian.

The girl said she was then locked in the back of the U-Haul truck with Nason where they engaged in sexual activity. The truck ended up in a parking lot in Cincinnati.

Hickman was arrested at the scene on drug charges, but the other two were not charged at the time.

The deputy obtained warrants on Nason and Cheek when he returned to Kentucky and they were arrested on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing.
