A FedEx worker is seen hurling a delivery box onto a porch from about 20 feet away; it bounces off the front porch pole and lands on the patio.
“I was just in utter disbelief,” Nichole Bauer told WKRN.
Monday afternoon she received a phone notification from her Ring camera.
“I looked at it and saw the video of this woman launching a package at my door.”
The package was a Christmas present for her niece.
“I didn’t expect to see that,” she explained.
Bauer has invested in a number of cameras because she’s concerned about package thieves, not package couriers.
“I have cameras all over my house; driveway, backyard, front yard and wanted a little more protection with the Ring especially with all of the package pirates that are in East Nashville and everywhere else.”
Bauer said she has a video of the same FedEx delivery woman on another occasion handling her packages without care, but never to this extent.
“She just like chucks it, I looked at it and was like ok it made it on the porch so now I will leave. She didn’t even ring the doorbell she just threw it and took off.”
Bauer posted the video on social media saying, “Apparently FedEx has taken an interest in employing shot put athletes as part of their delivery drivers workforce.”
The video viewed thousands of times made its way to the employee’s boss who reached out to Bauer.
“I got a call from the individual’s manager and he was embarrassed, very apologetic, very sincere, said that another individual had actually seen the video, showed him. He brought the individual in that threw the package and terminated her. It wasn’t my intention to have her terminated. I mean obviously some disciplinary action was necessary for what she did, but I didn’t intend for her to get fired,”
Since posting the video Bauer says she has also heard from a number of people sharing similar delivery nightmares.
“I’ve been tagged in a couple of different posts like look at this, this person just left it on the sidewalk or threw it in somebody’s lawn. So obviously it’s an issue that’s going around in other places as well, but not acceptable.”
Surprisingly, the gift didn’t break.
We reached out to FedEx for comment they sent a statement saying, “We are aware of the video, and the behavior depicted is inconsistent with our high standards of service. FedEx is committed to the proper handling of customer shipments, and we are addressing this matter.”
They did not confirm if the employee was fired.
