Steven Oerther, 59, died in the 3200 block of Springfield Drive on the night of June 4. He was murdered in his apartment, according to the coroner’s report and information from family.

The coroner said Oerther died of a gunshot wound.

Just hours after the shooting, police arrested Edward Lackington, 60, charging him with murder.

The victim’s family told WAVE 3 News Lackington is the brother of Oerther’s girlfriend.

Lackington is being held at the Louisville jail on a $250,000 bond.

Oerther’s family needs help paying for his funeral. Anyone who can help should send money to Maraman Billings Funeral Home in Shepherdsville in Steven Oerther’s name.

Funeral arrangements are still pending until payment is made, the family said.
