LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A SWAT situation in the Portland neighborhood of Louisville started with violence, but ended peacefully.

A shooting was reported around 3:20 p.m. Friday in the 2800 block of Slevin Street, MetroSafe confirmed. That’s south of Bank Street near 28th.

Crews rushed a man with a gunshot wound to University Hospital from that location. He is expected to be OK, a spokesman with LMPD said.

SWAT surrounded the house for about two hours.

Around 5:30 p.m., police escorted a man from the house. He had handcuffs on, but police have not named him as a suspect at this time.

Neighbors said they heard the commotion from inside their homes.

“The guy across the street started opening the door and the bottom glass of the security door was shot out, had a big hole in it,” Gary Swan told WAVE 3 News.

LMPD’s Major Crimes Unit is investigating.

Anyone with information on the crime should call the anonymous tipline at 502-574-LMPD (5673).
