VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — A man charged in connection to the fatal shooting of a woman in Virginia Beach appeared in court Friday afternoon for an arraignment.
Courtney Ian Moreno was arrested in Henrico County last week on charges of murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Police said Moreno was charged after officers found Sophia Hoggard shot inside of a vehicle at the intersection of Golden Oak Court and S. Lynnhaven Road. Hoggard died at the scene.
Moreno was transferred to Virginia Beach from Henrico County on Friday.
A Virginia Beach judge on Friday appointed a public defendor for Moreno and set a preliminary hearing for July 26.
