VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Pretty soon you will be able to use the City of Virginia Beach’s three dog parks and three skate parks without paying any fees.

According to a release from Virginia Beach Parks and Recreation, they are working to begin this change on April 1. A budget proposal is going before the City Council in May and they plan to get special permission from the City Manager.

New users will be charged a small, one-time prorated fee between Feb. 1 and March 31, according to VB Parks and Rec. Existing customers with passes that expire before March 31 will have their pass extended at no additional charge.

“At the end of the day, we just want people to take advantage of our city’s incredible outdoor recreation amenities and make it as easy as possible for them to do that. And with more dog parks planned in the near future, access should continue to improve and be easier than ever before,” said Parks  and Recreation Director Michael Kirschman in the press release.
