VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach City Public Schools announced today the next 14 elementary schools that would take their half-day kindergarten classes to full-day schedules.

The list includes the following schools starting in the fall of 2019: 

  •  Birdneck Elementary School 
  • Brookwood Elementary School 
  • Centerville Elementary School 
  • Christopher Farms Elementary School 
  • Fairfield Elementary School 
  • Green Run Elementary School 
  • Linkhorn Park Elementary School 
  • Luxford Elementary School 
  • North Landing Elementary School 
  • Pembroke Elementary School 
  • Shelton Park Elementary School 
  • Strawbridge Elementary School 
  • Tallwood Elementary School 
  • Three Oaks Elementary School 

The addition of the 14 new school times joins a movement that has played out over several years. Back in 2017, Va. Beach schools announced they would make the slow transition from half-time to full-time over the course of a few years. VBCPS will have 45 schools across the division offering full-day kindergarten classes in the fall

Parents of the children who attend these schools will be notified in separate communication in the coming weeks.
