So, what’s your favorite Disney memory? “Frozen,” “Aladdin,” “Lion King” or how about “Toy Story”? You will be able to celebrate Disney memories Feb. 5 through Feb. 9 at Baltimore’s Royal Farms Arena when “Disney On Ice Presents: Celebrate Memories.”

You will have a chance to be part of the action when Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy go on a journey to discover Mickey’s favorite memory of the past 90 years.

You may even make a new memory as you watch Disney cast members, like James Hunt, one of the ensemble skaters. Hunt told WBAL News Radio 1090 and FM 101.5’s John Patti that his favorite Disney memory isn’t found in a movie, but in this show: It’s when Rapunzel and Flynn from “Tangled” exit the tower.

Hunt says Rapunzel actually flies through the arena, some 30 feet in the air, using her hair.

Hunt’s story about how he got hired by Feld Entertainment, producers of “Disney On Ice,” is a pretty amazing memory in and of itself. Hunt says he began skating when he was 6 or 7 years old and went to a leisure center to go swimming. He saw the ice rink and asked his mother if he could go on the ice and skate. Hunt says, “After that, I was hooked.”

He started to skate competitively and won numerous national titles, including two Junior World Championship titles.

In 2012 Hunt  emailed the casting director for Feld Entertainment explaining that he was looking to join. Yes, he did get a response, asking him to audition in Liverpool, near his home in Brentwood, England. Two weeks after the audition, he received a telephone call asking if he could go to Holland to cover some skaters in another show. The rest is a Disney memory.

Hunt says anyone can do that, all of the information is on the Feld Entertainment website.

Hunt’s job with Feld has taken him all over the world, including several stops here in Baltimore, where he says he now has favorite shopping spots and restaurants. Hunt says he was born in Essex, England and did not know that we have an Essex in the Baltimore area. He promises to visit during this next trip to Baltimore.

Hunt says this show will feature all of Disney’s favorite characters, but it’s not just ice skaters doing jumps, spins and lifts, guests will see the characters flying through the air and interacting in what he calls a “huge” production.

Tickets start at $15 for weekday performances and $20 for weekend performances.
