New Annapolis hotel pays homage to Naval Academy
The newest addition to the Annapolis hotel market has plenty of Easter eggs for U.S. Naval Academy graduates.References to the academy are sprinkled in with the nautical decor at the Graduate Annapolis hotel, which officially opened Friday. Curtains in the school's colors, blue and gold, outfit guest room windows. Pictures on the walls feature the Navy's battle cry, "Hooyah," and notable figures like Roger Staubach, a quarterback for the Midshipmen and 1963 Heisman Trophy winner. There are custom-made lamps with a bust of mascot Bill the Goat and others designed to look like a miniature Herndon Monument, a 21-foot-tall obelisk that academy freshmen, called plebes, attempt to scale each spring. (Thankfully, the lamp does not replicate another piece of academy tradition, which sees the monument covered in vegetable shortening on the day of the climb).Tap here to see more photos of the hotel from the Baltimore Business Journal.
