Runners prepare for 19th annual Baltimore Running Festival

The forecast for Saturday is ideal for endurance events such as the 19th annual Baltimore Running Festival. Spectators will probably be chilly, but the runners will be pleased.The entrants are getting ready for the Baltimore Running Festival.Along Pratt Street in downtown Friday, it didn't take long for citizens to figure out Baltimore's hosting two distinct events.More than 10,000 runners filed through the Convention Center to pick up their bibs and a shirts for one of Saturday's four races."I'm doing the Baltimore Marathon, the full marathon. It's my second full marathon, but I've done a lot of halves before," participant Liz Watson said. Erik Riddick is participating in the half marathon. Riddick explained why he's running 13.1 miles on Saturday."I've been asking myself that, too, because it's a mental challenge you have to deal with," he said.On Saturday, 20,000 runners -- from all 50 states, 17 foreign countries and previous podiums -- are expected to be on the starting line.Jeremy Ardunoy, who took third in 2018, is the men's marathon favorite this year."It's absolutely special. It's particular to me as a resident of Baltimore. It's really an exciting day. I get to run these streets that I run all the time, and it's cleared out," Ardunoy said.
