Reaction to the sinkhole and repair work

Fixing a problem like this isn't easy. It's not quiet either.

Despite the noise, Dino Dipalo, who works nearby, came to look at the crews working to fix the water main break on York Road.

"I've never seen such a giant hole in the middle of York Road. I've lived here my whole life and I'm like blown away about it," Dipalo said.

Utility crews discovered and have temporarily plugged a small leak in a 4-inch gas main close to the sinkhole. Baltimore Gas and Electric crews are working to replace a 2-foot section of the main to repair the leak.

That means a portion of York Road by Padonia is closed, creating a hassle for drivers.

"It was really hectic. I had no idea this was going on, and then we had to go all the way around it; (there) was a lot of traffic," driver Jessica Strauch said.
